Antique Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a splendid bucolic landscape with animals and a shepherd, of great pictorial quality. In the foreground we find magnificently painted goats that seem to observe us, thus breaking the fourth wall. In the distance we see a shepherd on horseback with his dog at his side, both seem to move away towards the sunset and give depth to the composition. Painting attributable to the German painter Philipp Peter Roos known as Rosa da Tivoli (1657-1706), lacking authentication. A pupil of Giacinto Brandi, he worked mainly in Italy and bought a house in Tivoli, which earned him the famous nickname. He raised many animals and then painted them in the Roman countryside, with intense brush strokes and a strong contrast between light and shadow. 20th century frame in carved and painted wood, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the color in small spots. Overall in good condition. Interior size H 75 x W 93 cm.
