Refined painting from the Roman school of the 18th century. Oil artwork on canvas depicting the communion of Saint Agnes of Montepulciano. The Dominican saint was born around 1268 and Catherine of Siene was also devoted to her. The composition seems to be divided into two parts, on the right the earthly world where Agnes is represented in Dominican clothes immersed in a lush garden. On the left, however, the otherworldly world with a splendid angel offering her a host, while above sweet cherubs in the clouds observe the scene. At the bottom we find a lamb, an iconographic symbol of her. 20th century frame in carved and painted wood, highly decorated, with some defects in the frieze and some signs of aging (see photo). Artwork that has undergone restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and restoration of color in some small points, overall in good state of conservation. Sight size H 95 x W 72.5 cm.
